This is honestly kind of strange. At this point in the movie, the five Gremlins in the Peltzer household have done nothing except make a mess of the kitchen. Four of the five are murdered in very gruesome ways, except for Spike who manages to escape with his life and create an army so he can avenge his fallen brothers.
We talked about this on an episode of the Ink Panthers I was on last year. Gremlins is a revenge tale. Starts off where a kindly old man is deceived. Gizmo is stolen from his home. The Gremlins are then slaughtered. Spike is well within his rights to seek revenge and liberate his people.
